Exercise right on your next trip!

I often hear clients say  “I’m going away and will miss my exercise, but oh well what can I do?” Well here is what you can do. Just because you are off for a work trip or holiday, be it long or short doesn’t mean you have to let your exercise slip by the way side. As most of you have heard me say I plan my exercise before any trip away even though Todd may not like it. It’s a part of our life and having a holiday doesn’t mean we need to ditch it completely.  You may not be able to get to a gym or even feel like that sort of workout so here is something you could do for 15 minutes even in a hotel room .

A couple of things to remember though, just as you would in the gym have a little warm up whether its joint mobility or gentle stretching or a few quick repetitive movements a warm up will get you ready and help avoid injury.

Your warm up could be: 25 star jumps or single leg taps, 15 squats, 10 lunges, 5 push ups. Remember you can modify each exercise to suit your level. This warm up should take about 3-4 minutes.

Once that’s done you can move into your workout. Set your watch/laptop for 15 minutes and then do as many full circuits as you can in that time. Don’t compromise form for speed. Here is your  workout repeat it as many times as you can in 15 minutes:

20 Body Weight Squats or use a chair and just do sit to stand’s

15 Incline Push Ups (feet on floor, hands on edge of bed or desk) or normal floor pushups if you can

10 One-Arm Luggage Rows (each arm, use your suit case as your weight)

10 Crunches

This could be a good little office lunch break workout as well just to get you moving and away from the desk and the hours you have to sit at it. Just a thought!!
