July 2018 – “I’ve been a member of Targeted Fitness for almost three years now and to say it has changed my life is an understatement. It started with a need to get on top of a back

The thought of starting on my first day was scary, so I began with some PT sessions. When my confidence level grew I joined group sessions and started going more regularly. I now train or do Pilates almost every day of the week! injury. I had known Michelle for years and having never walked into a gym in my life, I knew she would make me feel comfortable the moment I walked in.

Over the past 6 months I’ve struggled with injuries, but Michelle, Matt and the team are always willing to change up an exercise to suit my ability on the day. They have also worked with my physio to ensure that the program I’m doing is suitable for my injury and helping with my recovery.

Throughout my time at Targeted Fitness my confidence has soared, I’ve met new lifelong friends and I now have a massive appreciation for what my body can do and how exercise supports my mental health.

I’ll miss seeing my Gym family every day, but my own personal growth as a result of being a part of that family is something that I will treasure. Targeted Fitness is not just a gym, it’s somewhere that you can feel safe and be surrounded by encouraging people that only want to see you succeed.

June 2018 – “Being part of the Targeted Fitness family has been transforming…
As a younger bloke, I’d participated in plenty of fitness events – running a few ½ marathons and the Canberra marathon, some local triathlons, and a few long-distance bike rides. My wife and I would also do those crazy Step Classes and Aerobic Classes that were popular back in the day.Phil
Now at 53, I thought I was reasonably fit and healthy, but for my wife…
She gently but persistently encouraged me to book in for a Fitness Assessment at Targeted, as she was concerned about my physical wellbeing. I had probably let a few things slide over a period of 20+ years – kids, life, commitments, that sort of thing.
That was about 12 months ago.
The Assessment highlighted a few areas that needed work; areas that were starting to affect my everyday movements. My posture was shot, abdominal strength not optimal and I had very tight leg muscles which affected my flexibility. I’d never been able to touch my toes, but during the Assessment I could barely reach my knees.
Participating in the Strongman monthly events this year also highlighted a weakness that I’ve endured for over 20 years – a sharp painful elbow issue that presented itself mainly when lifting weights. Because I’m a “go hard or go home” type of bloke, I endured the pain for a few decades, but finally listened to the Trainers advice (and my wife’s) and sought help with the team from Hunter Performance Physio. Surprise, surprise – after a few physio sessions, and doing the “at home” prescribed exercises, I am now pretty much pain free.
Matt developed a program that helped me increase flexibility, strength and cardio fitness. Flexibility has been the most challenging aspect of training, but I can now touch my toes!
I’m so thankful for the hard work and dedication of all the staff at Targeted Fitness, and it shows. I would also say that I’m the strongest that I’ve ever been. Not bad for a Grandad.
Going to the gym is one of the highlights of my week. My wife’s happy with the changes too, which makes me happy. You know what they say, “happy wife….  Phil”

December 13th 2017 – I have been going to personal training with Michelle for over a year now and it has continued to be so helpful. When I started with Michelle at Targeted Fitness I could barely stand a couple of minutes and was very deconditioned because of a medical condition. I could barely lift 0.5kg weights and had not been in a gym in years. Michelle has been able to find ways of adjusting normal exercises to meet my abilities, and over the past year I have achieved more than I could’ve hoped for. Michelle continually finds new activities for me to try and continues to push me, whilst being aware of my limitations. Being able to improve my strength, balance, endurance and muscle tone has helped in all aspects of my life and I credit a large part of this to my PT sessions with Michelle. From: Erika B

image1August 2017 – ‘Hi there fellow gym devotees…….Neil and I (Margarete ) have recently undertaken a 4WD holiday with lots of hiking. We were pleasantly surprised to find that one session of gym per week and a reasonably active lifestyle put us in good shape for our adventurous holiday.

The 3 photos below give you a bit of an idea of the kind of walking we did. The Outer Rim hike to St Mary’s Peak saddle (1000m) at   Wilpena Pound was 6.6 kilometres of steep, rugged terrain as the photo shows, with the return on the inner rim rugged, but not as steep. In total 21.5 kilometres!! We both expected to be quite sore in the following days but it was not the case. I found I had enough strength in my legs to clamber up the steep rock face and plenty of energy for the longer return hike thanks to the team at TF for their guidance and training” N & M Ritchie

“I had a total hip replacement at 59yrs of age and after my recovery time felt I needed to get my cardio and fitness levels up. Never having ever set foot in a gym, I was somewhat intimidated by the prospect! However I am very glad I did and chose Targeted Fitness based on it being small and private. Michelle and her wonderful team have been very thorough and professional from the start. A fitness assessment is undertaken along with expectations and goals which was very thorough and an individual program is then set. I like that one is not aggressively pushed to work hard but there is more than enough encouragement and support to achieve your goals and actually improve your fitness levels. I can’t speak more highly of this facility and of all the dedicated staff that work hard to make it happen.” Penny.

3 Hour Super Challenge – Sat 16th July held at TF..when asked what did you like or dislike about the event, how did you feel, this was one response:

“Hi Michelle, I thought I wouldn’t be able to move today but while there is some muscle soreness I feel really good. Before the  3 hours I did think I would lag behind or even not make it to the end but I felt proud of myself for not just finishing but for pushing the boundaries of what I thought I could do. This is  totally down to all the preparation and thought that you, Matt and Todd put into the day. Every hour presented us with a variety of physical challenges that were varied  but allowance made for different levels so I was able to participate at my level of fitness and age – there was just no way I was lifting that 65kg ball – but others did.  In saying that none  of the activities were too easy!!! They were all interesting and this is so much a part of the success of your programs – they stimulate the mind as well as the body. I find I do more when it is fun and also when encouragement and praise is given – something I got in spades from you, Matt and fellow participants. The team aspect is also a great incentive to keep going and teaming up with Mel was great. Todd’s brekkie was very welcome after 3 hours of running, lifting, kettle belling, planking etc etc

I was pretty stoked that I carried those big metal things (I think they were 35kgs each) up and down. I found I quite enjoyed heavy lifting, lol. So – I’m not sure what you could improve – I have only this first experience of it to go on and I had one of the best exercise days of my life. I will certainly participate in the next one. Michelle, Thanks for organising the body transformation, with all its parts..I may not have lost lots of weight but the whole process was both informative a bit of fun and helped me get back on track. It was also lovely to meet some new ladies and share bits of their life journey. I just love Targeted Fitness and what it has brought to my life .Thanks. I have been to a few different fitness places and have found that Targeted Fitness has really worked for me. When I was pregnant with my daughter I attended until I was about 32 weeks – with programs developed by my trainer for each stage of my pregnancy. After I had my little girl we attended Mum’s Group which was both a good workout and a social outlet. Currently I attend twice a week – once for a boxing class and another day for a group session. Boxing is a great form of exercise, a lot of fun and did I mention a really good calorie burner! I find group sessions are really good, as you get the best of both worlds – some attention from the trainer and motivation from other clients. When I was choosing a training centre, level of service, location of studio and knowledge of the trainers were important to me. You have been excellent in all areas and I couldnt ask for more. Coming to your studio is the only way I can discipline myself to look after my fitness needs. I certainly feel better and more capable of tackling my long work days.Graham B

 My wife and I have been coming to targeted fitness for a few years. Having been to other larger gyms, I really appreciate the personalised programs. I am currently attending group sessions – I find my groups sessions in the morning are a great way to start the day and get pumped ready to go to work. I have also been a part of fitness activities which Targeted Fitness sometimes put together teams for, such as the Tough Mudder and Warrior Dash. Activities like that give me a goal to work towards and are a lot of fun. Initially I was very hesitant about going to the “gym”. A friend referred me to Targeted Fitness and I can say I have been made to feel very comfortable and I am actually enjoying the experience. The service I have received has been outstanding. The studio covers all I need. Their ability to help me achieve my fitness goals, their knowledge and service all exceeded my expectations and my results have been great Narelle H

 My husband and I have just completed the 12 week transformation challenge and we are very thankful to Michelle and her team for their help and support. Both my husband and I have struggled with weight gain over the past 8 years and have tried exercising off and on for the last 2 years, with no real success. Doing this challenge together seems to have been the trigger we needed to create determination and consistency. My husband reached his goals well within the 12 weeks and is now a fit and more fabulous version of himself ( he inspires me daily). I have nearly reached my goal but better than that I have reset my mind. I will never like or enjoy exercise but during this challenge I realized that my mind is much more powerful than my body and my mind likes the exercise. So my mind is now able to drag my butt to the gym with little or no complaining. As 2 middle aged people we are now ready for whatever the next 30 years or so brings.  I began attending Targeted Fitness in September 2013. I was advised by my doctor to loose weight and ‘get fit’ in a hope of reducing my stress levels and feel more energised. I’m happy to say that at the time of writing this I’ve lost almost 15kg, have significantly reduced my stress levels and am looking and feeling great! The wonderful team of personal trainers at Targeted Fitness have encouraged me throughout my journey and for this I’m extremely grateful. Their knowledge, care and skills are second to none. I have been attending TARGETED FITNESS for almost a year and it has simply changed my life! was very unfit when I started , and with the help and encouragement from Michelle and her staff I have become the woman I always wanted to be…healthy.
